Million Minutes Update!

Willows total so far

The children have read for a total of 282,600 minutes. A huge increase of 36, 300 minutes since the end of last term! (the equivalent of 4710 hours of reading)

The class with the most reading so far remains Eucalyptus class who have read for a combined total of 777 hours! However, the class with the biggest % increase on last week is Walnut class with a massive 53% increase! See our class competition below…

Please continue to support and encourage your child/ren to read for at least 10 minutes a day, recorded in their reading record and signed by a parent.

Times tables rock stars!

When it comes to times tables, speed AND accuracy are important – the more facts your child remembers, the easier it is for them to do harder calculations.

Times Table Rock Stars is a fun and challenging programme designed to help students master the times tables!

To be a Times Table Rock Star you need to answer any multiplication fact up to 12×12 in less than 3 seconds! Last week we launched our Times Table Rock Stars challenge with the children. For more information on accessing TTRS see our Maths Lab pages.

Changes to childcare options at the willows!

From January we will be offering more flexible early years childcare arrangements with options for mornings, afternoons, early week or late week sessions. Early week sessions run from Monday morning to Wednesday lunch and late week sessions run from Wednesday lunch to Friday afternoon.

There are currently vacancies in sessions for Saplings (2-3 year olds) and Nursery (3-4 year olds). These are open to funded children or can be paid sessions

Sessions are £12. For children attending 2 sessions in a day (morning and afternoon), there is no additional cost for lunch.

Bookings can be made via the school office and are set for a term at a time. If your childcare needs are not covered in the session options above please contact us to discuss the alternatives we can provide.

We believe that giving children varied and challenging experiences out of the classroom environment generates greater success within it.

We are lucky to have an incredibly active and dedicated PTFA, who raise money for the school. There are many ways you can be a part of the PTFA and support the school. We welcome and encourage new members.

one million minutes!

As a school we are embarking on the million minutes challenge. If every pupil in the school was read with, read to or read on their own for 10 minutes a day, each week day, we would have read over 1 MILLION minutes by the end of this academic year.
