We have banned children from having mobile phones on school site unless there are genuine safety reasons why your child needs their phone with them. If you want your child to have their mobile phone in school because they walk a long way to and from school alone every day and are not met at the gate or the end of the road by a parent – then parents can apply for permission to be given using the form below.
The form should be submitted to the office and will be given to the Headteacher for review.
If the request is approved, then your child will be allowed to bring their phone into school with them but they must come into school via the main reception doors and hand their phone in immediately. The phones will be locked away in the office (not in the classrooms) and then they must come and collect it from main reception at the end of the day as they are leaving.
If your child does not need their phone for genuine safety reasons, please do not allow them to bring it to school.
There will be consequences for any child who brings a mobile phone into school without permission. Phones will be confiscated and not given back until the end of term.
What you need to do as a parent
As adults, you will be aware of just how dangerous mobile phones and access to online social media can be. We all hear daily stories of the consequences of online bullying, online grooming and online abuse.
If you feel your child is safe with their phone – do you have parental controls in place? Are you monitoring what they are accessing/sending regularly?
We take our safeguarding duties to protect your children very seriously but we cannot control their use of mobile phones and technology outside of school. This is part of parental responsibility.
