School Development

The purpose of our school development plan (SDP) is to:

  • Continue to drive improvements forward that will impact positively on the children’s achievements
  • Share values and vision, to develop and maintain a sense of common purpose amongst the staff, governors, children and parents of our school
  • Provide cohesion across the school where all stakeholders work in partnership to ensure the highest possible outcomes for all our children – both personally and academically
  • Provide measureable goals and targets to ascertain our progress
  • Provide a framework that will enable sound financial planning to support the work of the school
  • Continue and review initiatives through regular monitoring and measurement of their effectiveness

The SDP is a vital working document for our school. All staff are involved in working together to achieve the priorities identified for school improvement.

It is continually monitored, reviewed and adjusted where necessary to take account of progress, changes and adaptations. The plan also takes account of a wide range of data and information about standards of pupil performance and achievement in our school and incorporates targets and outcomes in order to address key issues that have emerged.

The school aims to develop the pupils as rounded individuals by:-

  • Providing a learning environment which enables all children to develop their knowledge, understanding and capability of subjects included          within the National Curriculum and to achieve the highest possible academic standard for them personally.
  • Providing a happy, secure environment based on mutual respect and trust.
  • Fostering the qualities of both independence and cooperation with others.
  • Helping them to develop as mature adults who demonstrate and value a caring, tolerant and thoughtful attitude to all members of society.
  • Developing self confident, enquiring individuals who see education as a continual and enriching life-long process.
  • Emphasising the qualities of honesty, courtesy, integrity, perseverance and self-control with a love of life and the world in which they live.
  • Preparing them for a meaningful role in the local and wider community.

Our aims are based on our aspiration to be an outstanding and effective school categorised by the following characteristics:

  • The ethos and culture for learning promotes confidence that every child can improve. Teachers and other adults generate high levels of enthusiasm for, participation in and commitment to learning.
  • Excellent teaching together with a rich and relevant curriculum which contribute to outstanding learning and achievement, significant growth in pupils’ knowledge, and excellent attitudes to learning.
  • Excellent educational experiences for all pupils to ensure that they are very well equipped for the next stage of their education
  • The highest expectations of staff and the highest aspirations for all pupils, including disabled pupils and those with special educational needs
  • Best practice is spread effectively in a drive for continuous improvement
