Year 3 & 4 Class Information

Welcome to Lower Key Stage 2 (LKS2). This phase is a time of growth and new learning as children build on their KS1 skills, knowledge and understanding and transition into more advanced academic concepts. LKS2 is a crucial stage where students build upon their foundational knowledge and develop essential skills for future learning. 

Here's a glimpse into what LKS2 learning involves:

Building upon prior knowledge:

  • Students will deepen their understanding of core subjects like English, Maths, Science, and continue to explore subjects like History, Geography, DT, Art, ICT, RE and Music but in more depth and detail. 

Developing essential skills:

  • LKS2 focuses on improving reading comprehension, extended writing skills (including grammar and punctuation), mathematical problem-solving, reasoning and scientific investigation. 

Exploring new subjects:

  • Students will be introduced to a foreign language (French). 

Encouraging independence:

  • Children are encouraged to become more independent learners and take more responsibility for their learning.

School drop off and pick up

Entrance: Pyle Hill gate
Drop off: 8:35am
Pick up: 3:10pm

Pyle Hill gate will open at 8.30 and 3.05pm

Staff will open classroom doors to receive children until 8.35 and at 3.10pm to release them. The Pyle Hill gate will open at 8.30 for parents to access the school site.

Parents are asked to wait in the area outside the side door to the new build that faces the Pyle Hill Gate

Staff will open the side doors to receive children at 8.35 when children will be greeted and let in by LKS2 teachers and staff

At the end of the day, the Pyle Hill gate will be opened at 3.05pm. Y3 and Y4 parents are asked to wait outside the side door for staff to open the doors and let the children out at 3.10pm to a named adult
