EYFS Curriculum and Assessment Policy
Every year, we take part in the Rhyme Challenge, a fun and interactive way to improve speech and language in our youngest children.
Rhythm and rhyme are two of the fundamental building blocks of phonological awareness. In order to support the learning of these skills we are aiming to learn a new nursery rhyme every week. Each week the nursery rhyme will be embedded into our play and learning in the classroom. The children enjoy singing and reciting the rhymes and will build up their knowledge of a range of nursery rhymes over time.
Why we take part in the Rhyme Challenge?
- The Rhyme Challenge provides a fun, informal learning opportunity for all the family.
- The Rhyme Challenge helps your child develop early language skills and supports communication more widely with peers and adults.
- The Rhyme Challenge improves your child's phonological awareness.
- The Rhyme Challenge give us an opportunity to make stronger links between home and school
